What To Expect During a Wellness Visit

ExperCARE, Health, Informational

So, you’re thinking about a wellness visit? That’s a big step toward a healthier life!

A wellness visit is a routine checkup with a healthcare provider to assess your overall health, through screenings, lab tests, and conversations with a doctor. You’ll develop a personalized health plan that can help you identify and stay ahead of health risks.

Let’s walk you through a typical wellness visit so you know what to expect.

ExperCARE provides walk-in, on-demand primary care and urgent care, 7 days a week with extended hours, and accepts both self-pay and insurance.

No appointment is ever needed!

What is a Wellness Visit?

A wellness visit is a proactive approach to healthcare designed to assess your overall health and identify potential health risks. During this appointment, your healthcare provider at ExperCARE will review your medical history, conduct a physical exam, and discuss your lifestyle habits. They may also order necessary lab tests or screenings to monitor your health. The goal of a wellness visit is to promote preventive care and develop a personalized plan to improve your overall well-being.

Why Are Wellness Visits Important?

Wellness visits allow your healthcare provider at ExperCARE to monitor your vital signs, assess your risk factors, and identify potential health concerns early on. That’s not to say that every wellness visit results in a diagnosis, but if you are at risk of developing an illness, then early detection can help you prevent it from worsening or significantly improve your treatment outcome.

Additionally, wellness visits give you an opportunity to discuss how you can make changes to your lifestyle to stay in better health. Your provider can offer personalized advice and support to help you make informed choices and achieve your health goals.

What to Expect During a Wellness Visit

No matter which clinic you go to, a wellness visit at ExperCARE will generally follow the same procedure.

Before you visit, make sure you have the following items:

  • Insurance Information: When you pay for your wellness visit with insurance at ExperCARE, you do NOT have to pay a co-pay! Wellness visits are completely covered by insurance at all ExperCARE locations.
  • List of Medications: Including over-the-counter medications and supplements.
  • List of Questions: Write down any questions or concerns you have for your provider.

Now, you’re ready to head to the clinic!

A wellness visit usually consists of 5 steps:

  1. Medical History Review: When you check into the clinic, you’ll be given a questionnaire about your medical history, including past illnesses, surgeries, allergies, and medications.
  2. Physical Exam: The clinic will measure your blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature to gauge your health. The information is recorded so your doctor can track changes over time.
  3. Lab Tests: Depending on your age, gender, and risk factors, you may need blood tests to check for cholesterol levels, blood sugar, thyroid function, and other conditions.
  4. Lifestyle Counseling: A doctor will discuss your lifestyle, helping you set health goals that can range from diet and exercise to stress management.
  5. Immunizations: Your provider will review your immunization records and administer any necessary vaccines if you choose.

Scheduling a Wellness Visit

Most healthcare providers require an appointment for a wellness visit, and it’s not uncommon to wait two weeks or longer to get an appointment. You may also have to squeeze your visit into operating hours that don’t fit your schedule very well — sometimes right in the middle of your work day.

ExperCARE, which has several locations in and around Savannah, Georgia, is a different kind of clinic.

We’re open 7 days a week, with extended hours, and we offer walk-in wellness visits that require no appointment! We make it so much easier for you to get the healthcare services you need, even when you have a busy schedule.

“ExperCARE offers on-demand healthcare that’s revolutionizing the industry. Our mission is to make healthcare more accessible by providing walk-in treatment, whether you’re coming in for a wellness visit or urgent care. If you have in-network insurance, then your wellness visit is free of charge — no co-pays. But if you prefer to self-pay, you can call us ahead of time for transparent pricing.”
