Primary Care Insurance vs. Urgent Care: What’s the Difference in Cost?
Urgent care is the place to go if you’re dealing with symptoms that cannot wait a week or two for the next available appointment with your doctor. If you’re worried about the cost of urgent care, we created this brief guide that will explain the difference between primary care insurance vs. urgent care insurance costs.
ExperCARE provides walk-in, on-demand primary care and urgent care, 7 days a week with extended hours, and accepts both self-pay and insurance.
No appointment is ever needed!

Can I Use My Primary Care Insurance at Urgent Care?
Absolutely! Most health insurance policies will cover both primary care and urgent care visits as long as the urgent care center is in your plan’s provider network.
Urgent Care vs. Primary Care Cost
Insurance policies usually require co-pays for both urgent care and primary care.
If you’ve purchased health insurance for the first time (congrats!) then you might not be familiar with co-pays. A co-pay means that you’ll pay a predetermined fee every time you visit primary care or urgent care, and your insurance coverage will pay for the rest of your costs.
Co-pays are more expensive for urgent care than for primary care.
- Average Co-Pay for Primary Care: $25
- Average Co-Pay for Urgent Care: $75

Affordable Urgent Care and Primary Care with ExperCARE
ExperCARE has developed a brand-new healthcare model that makes urgent care visits so much more affordable, whether you have insurance or want to pay out-of-pocket.
“Unfortunately, there are too many people dealing with illness or injuries that won’t visit an urgent care clinic because they’re worried about getting saddled with high medical bills. At ExperCARE, we believe that feeling better shouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg. We have many affordable payment options, and your costs will always be transparent.”

Our ExperCARE clinics in the greater Savannah, GA, area offer three affordable ways to pay for treatment, depending on your insurance situation.
1. Pay with In-Network Insurance
If you have insurance coverage with one of our in-network providers, then you only need to pay a primary co-pay — not an urgent care co-pay!
The vast majority of walk-in clinics offer only urgent care or specialty treatment.
ExperCARE is unique because we also offer primary care services — and we’re happy to provide you with urgent care treatment at a primary care rate!
2. No Co-Pays for Wellness Checks
If you have in-network insurance, you will have no co-pay at all if your visit qualifies as a wellness check (basically a “checkup” with a primary care doctor).
Come in for a wellness check if you’re feeling a bit off, but aren’t sure why you’re feeling that way. Or, if you want to get a status update on your health to get ahead of any health risks you may have (we’re a big believer in preventative care).
3. Pay Without Insurance
You’re welcome to visit ExperCARE even if you have out-of-network insurance or prefer to pay without insurance.
We offer affordable, transparent, flat self-pay rates for your urgent care visit.
All you have to do is call the clinic ahead of time and explain why you need to be seen. Our ExperTEAM will help you determine the cost ahead of time.
There are no surprise fees; transparent rates are part of our mission to make healthcare more accessible to everyone.
