What types of COVID testing does ExperCARE offer?
We offer Viral PCR testing that is processed by a third party, reference lab, reliable Rapid Testing that is processed in-house utilizing Quidel’s Sofia2 Machine for same day results as fast as 15 minutes, as well as send-out qualitative antibody blood testing performed by LabCorp or Quest.
What kind of rapid testing does ExperCARE perform?
At ExperCARE, we are committed to providing the highest quality care and access to the most reliable diagnostics available. For this reason, we are utilizing the Quidel’s Sofia2 Machine Antigen Test for Rapid Covid Testing. This test is highly recommended due to the reliability and fast results. If you are not experiencing any symptoms, you can pre-book a rapid test at one of our locations.
Will my insurance cover the cost of rapid testing?
While this may change at any time, rapid testing using the Quidel’s Sofia2 Machine has not been assigned a reimbursement amount. For this reason, we are providing access to this testing as an optional, convenient cash-pay service as an add-on to our other services covered by your insurance.
How much does Rapid Testing Cost?
If you are asymptomatic and want a rapid test only, the cost is $150 payable prior to testing. If you are experiencing symptoms, you will need to have a visit with one of our experienced urgent care providers. If applicable, you may use your insurance for the visit. If you do not have insurance, our cash pay urgent care visit is $149. If you and the provider decide that you should get a Rapid COVID 19 test, it is offered at a discounted $75 with your urgent care office visit.
Is there an alternative COVID test that my insurance might cover?
YES! We can send test out to one of the many full-service labs we work with to perform viral PCR testing and generally get COVID results in as little as 24-72 hours.
Do I have to see a provider if I just want a COVID test?
It depends. If you are experiencing any symptoms at all, we require that you see a provider for assessment (prior to testing) to ensure a comprehensive evaluation, assessment and treatment plan. This also provides time to answer all of your questions related to your specific situation and discuss the current guidelines and recommendations and how they may apply. Your visit would be covered by any applicable insurance benefits, and you and your provider could determine together what type of testing is the best for you.
If I am having symptoms; can I still get the Rapid Test?
Yes, during your visit, our award-winning urgent care providers will assess you and help you determine which test is best for you as well as order your COVID 19 testing, along with any other recommended testing and treatments. You can pre-book an Urgent Care visit at one of our locations online OR call us from the parking lot when you arrive to register and be seen during our open hours, 7 days a week.
Do I have to have an appointment?
No, at ExperCARE, you never need an appointment, but you can pre-book your visit in advance, if you prefer. If you are experiencing respiratory symptoms, cough, fever or have any reason to believe you may have COVID-19, please just call us when you arrive in the parking lot and we will register you from the comfort of your car and determine the best way to proceed from there. How will I get my results?
Results will be delivered to your patient portal within a couple of hours of your test and can be as fast as 15-20 minutes! Our patient portal can be reached by clicking here.
Will this type of COVID testing work for travel requirements?
ExperCARE rapid testing is performed utilizing Quidel’s Sofia2 machine and is an antigen test. While this is an extremely reliable test, there is still quite a bit of variability in requirements depending on where you are traveling and their current policies. Please confirm prior to testing whether this type of result will suffice, or if Viral PCR testing is required. We can provide viral PCR results as well, however we recommend testing before 3pm, at least 72 hours in advance of travel to ensure results are back prior to departure.
Can rapid testing be used to detect an active COVID-19 infection?
Yes, Quidel’s Sofia2 Machine Antigen testing was developed to detect active COVID-19 infection. This is different than the rapid antibody testing (usually finger stick) often used to detect prior infection.
