School districts across the city are actively seeking new bus drivers to cover essential routes, a role that is crucial for the smooth operation of our educational system. At ExperCARE, we recognize the significant responsibility that bus drivers take on when they transport our most valuable loved ones—our children. What happens during a DOT Physical?
A state-licensed physician will check several aspects of your overall health, as well as several specific to the qualifications of the job. You will be required to bring a copy of your medical history as well as a list of current medications that may show up on a drug screen. If you require glasses, corrective lenses or hearing aids to maintain full vision and hearing, they will need to be brought to your appointment as well. Your physician will check the following:
How long should I wait between DOT Physicals?
A DOT Physical is valid for up to two years after it is completed and you have passed. However, your employer may require more frequent examinations based on changing requirements of the position, risk factors such as increased blood pressure and new certifications. Your employer can require an updated DOT Physical at any time, including monthly, annually or biannually.
Why are DOT Physicals important for school bus drivers?
School bus drivers are required to undergo DOT physicals in order to make sure each driver is physically able to withstand the job, including spending long periods of time sitting and safely operating a motor vehicle. Stress is common in drivers due to the level of concentration required to keep the bus moving safely, especially with students potentially causing distractions by yelling, jumping around and throwing objects about. Another side effect of stress is high blood pressure, which can lead to further health issues down the line. By undergoing periodic DOT physicals, your doctor will be able to keep an eye on your blood pressure and provide exercises to reduce your stress levels.

From acute injuries on the ball field to weekend warrior mishaps- sprains and strains, bumps, bruises, stitches, staples and IV fluids are some more of the ways we excel at ExperCARE. We even have an in-house x-ray, labs, EKG’s, and much MORE.
Routine Care
Don’t have a doctor? Can’t get a convenient appointment?
Don’t want to wait to find out? Need non-controlled medications refilled? No problem! We are great at assessing just about any medical complaint, ordering necessary testing and providing a treatment plan customized just for you! We can even send you to the appropriate specialist for follow-up if indicated.
Labs, X-rays, Diagnostics
We offer in-house x-ray services and a full range of lab testing for all of your diagnostic needs. We have a board-certified radiologist on call for our providers all hours that we are open to provide the highest level of care and service for our patients. Need a vaccination or flu shot? We’ve got you covered. We even offer the option to fill most commonly prescribed medications on-site in minutes, for an affordable cash rate.
Occupational Medicine
We offer a full range of occupational health services delivered by experienced staff, knowledgeable in work-related injury care. Our team is trained to work with employers and employees to minimize lost time and recordability and optimize employee wellness. We specialize in delivering extraordinary care to employees while communicating with the employer to ensure a seamless process. We have FMCSA Certified Medical Examiners available on a walk-in basis daily and our centers are members of DATIA with NIOSH certified experts on staff.
