Tricia Howard has been in the medical and academic fields for over two decades. Beginning as an Instructor in the Department of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in 1997, she has held various academic appointments, including Guest Lecturer and Adjunct Clinical Instructor in the Physician Assistant (PA) program at MUSC and continued to contribute to academia as Faculty at South University’s PA program, eventually rising to the position of Assistant Program Director. During that time, she was recognized by the students as Didactic Instructor of the Year seven times.
Throughout Tricia’s academic career, she has also maintained an active clinical practice. From Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina to Charleston Nephrology Associates, she has garnered extensive clinical experience across various medical settings. Notably, Tricia has also served at Medical Associates of Savannah and ExperCare Urgent Care, demonstrating versatility and expertise in both primary and urgent care settings.
In addition to her clinical and academic roles, Tricia has served as the Chairman of the National Kidney Foundation’s Advance Practitioners Committee, published several articles, and has had the opportunity to speak at state and national medical conferences. Her recent experience includes serving as a Medical Claims Review with UnitedHealthcare where she has acquired knowledge regarding Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial billing. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Northern Arizona University, where she will earn her Doctor of Medical Science degree.
Tricia hales from Charleston, SC; however, her home for the last twenty years has been Savannah, where she resides with her husband, Chat Howard. She has two grown children, Andrew, and Caroline.
